The first ever Trail Run took place on 7-8 October 2016 and was a huge success! The weekend kicked off with the fantastic opening ceremony of 100 Arabian horses galloping past participants as they got ready to start their night run of 5km. Participants ran into the Karoo sun set and welcomed by the clear Karoo skies and bright milky way!

Day 1 was won by a women, Tessa Lefrere! A delicious dinner prepared by Fairview’s Annette van der Merwe and crew were enjoyed by all while prize giving was underway. Prizes consisted of Darling Brew hampers!

Day 2 consisted of 6km, 12km and 24km categories. It turned out to be a beaut of a Karoo day! Trail runners enjoyed the tough but oh so rewarding routes. Water points were stocked with patatoes, koeksisters, bananas, water and energy drinks and runners were welcomed to vetkoek and mince for lunch.

Participants enjoyed the fresh Karoo air on their afternoon nap and a sunset tractor drive later on. 2016 proved to be a great start to future trail running tours! Keep an eye out as we’ll soon be revealing the 2017 Trail Run dates!
