YOUR KAROO JOURNEY
Welcome to the Karoo, grab a beer or something to drink, and collect your goodie bag. During registration, you will receive your goodie bag with your timing band. Runners must please remember to present a photo identification document (driver’s license, passport, or ID book) to authenticate their identity. If a runner has not registered, they will not be allowed to start.
While en route to Dwarsvlei Farm venue, make a pitstop or two.
When coming from Cape Town, stop in Graaff-Reinet at Maria’s Coffee Roastery or Hello You and when coming from Middelburg stop at PLAASlik farmstal in town or Piccadili’s.
You’re welcome to arrive from 13:00 on Saturday 4 April onwards.

Complimentary Standard Canvas-tented accommodation includes the following:

Dwarsvlei Farm converted old horse stables into rooms. Expect a clean, cozy & spacious room rich in Karoo history.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the self-camp option:
This option is free.
There is no dedicated ablution for self campers but you can use the communal ablution facilities.
This area has no water or power supply points.
Shaded areas are limited and at the furthest point of the self-camp area.
Alternative accommodation options close to Dwarsvlei Farm venue:
Middelburg, Eastern Cape, has multiple accommodation options available and is situated 15 km from Dwarsvlei Farm.









Hospitality at Run The Karoo genuinely shows in the food. Expect Karoo lamb chops, freshly baked farm bread, condensed milk coffee at breakfast, and then be delighted by koeksisters and salty treats at the water points. Not to mention the perfectly chilled craft beer!
Saturday Lunch: Lunch will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon.
Saturday Dinner: Entails a Karoo-inspired braai with various types of delicious meats and multiple varieties of scrumptious salads.
Sunday Breakfast: A full hearty breakfast including eggs, boerewors, oats and fruit. Delectable locally sourced rusks will be available at the coffee station before and during breakfast.
Sunday Lunch: Freshly prepared Karoo lunch.
*Sunday Night Pass tickets need to be pre-booked online @R300. It includes live music, dinner on Sunday, a breakfast bun, and coffee with rusks on Monday morning.
*Please keep in mind menu changes might occur due to local stock and seasonal availability.

Water points at Run The Karoo usually have a delicious variety of yummy treats and sugary drinks to jump-start your legs after every few happy km of running in the Karoo. Depending on local suppliers and seasonal availability, you can expect the following nibbles and drinks: Koeksisters, date balls, baby potatoes, bananas, apples, water, Twizza cola and pre-mixed REVIVE electrolyte drink.
Before and during breakfast, you can grab a complimentary coffee or tea and rusk from the coffee station. For the more hardcore Java lovers, Atlantic Coffee Co will also be situated in The Nourse Shed to sell you your perfectly brewed cappuccino throughout the day. Water, Craft Beer, Craft Gin, Wine, and soft drinks will be on sale from the bar at the Main Building.
Water is supplied for the water points and consumption during each stage. All tap water in our event village is perfectly safe for drinking, and it is recommended that riders utilise our supply of drinking water.








We have backup support each day should you not be able to run any further and medical staff on the route as well as at the finish to assist incase you sustain an injury.
Remember to pack a headlamp for a safe and enjoyable night run.
En route essentials:
Water bottle or camelback (There are 2 waterpoints on 14k run and 3 on the 22k run as well.)
A cell phone
There’s Neutral Support at designated points on the route should you not be able to run any further. Medics at the venue and en route to assist in case you sustain an injury.
Runners will receive a timing chip to track your time for the event. Live results will be available.
Trained medical personnel will also be en route to handle any emergencies that may occur. Should an injury be deemed too severe for our medical team to handle, will be transferred to any of the local hospitals, where a more comprehensive service is available. Please remember to carry the details of your medical insurance with, in case of hospitalization.
Please ensure that you bring your medication as prescribed by your physician.
Massage packages can be pre-booked online @ R500 1× 30 min session on Sunday.






At Run The Karoo one can expect the unexpected at prize giving. And yes, we are serious (sometimes). The usual and sometimes unusual categories can expect prizes like Hope Gin, Deetlefs, and Kakiebos hampers. For the more serious runners, we will also have very unique Karoo trophies and some great prizes.

We encourage family and friends to come and support their runners during the event. We have loads of engaging activities for them to enjoy! Supporter Weekend passes can be pre-booked online @R1550 pp and R800pp for the Kiddies pass (meals and kiddies zone included) for kids u/12. This includes meals for the weekend (Saturday dinner to Sunday lunch), live entertainment, use of charging station, use of ablution facilities as well as coffee, tea, and rusks before breakfast.
Please note we only have 30 supporter tickets available per weekend. Please ensure to book your supporters well in advance.
All Run the Karoo runners will have the option to leave their kids (older than 3 – basically off nappies) while they run! The kids will have various entertainment activities.
R800 per child for the weekend includes all their meals as well as access to the kiddies zone! You have to pre-book this with your entry!
Additional upgraded tent options and mattresses can be booked online for family and supporters for two nights (Saturday & Sunday). Supporters are also welcome to share any luxury tents and guest-farm accommodation with their runners.
